Sherman Junior High School is located on Coal River Road in Seth, West Virginia, in the heart of Boone County. Serving approximately 195 students in grades 6–8, SJHS is the direct feeder school to Sherman High School, which is connected to our building. This close partnership provides students with a seamless transition into high school while fostering a strong sense of community and school pride.

Established by the Boone County Board of Education in 1986, Sherman Junior High has a long tradition of excellence. During the 1995–1996 school year, the school earned the prestigious National Blue Ribbon School designation. In 2016, the West Virginia Department of Education recognized Sherman Junior High as an "A" school. Out of 668 public schools across West Virginia, only 45 received this distinction, making this recognition a significant milestone in our school's history.

Today, Sherman Junior High continues to build on that tradition by providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student is encouraged to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. As a Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase School, we are committed to building meaningful relationships, promoting positive school culture, and developing leadership skills that prepare students for success in high school and beyond.

In addition to a strong academic program, students have opportunities to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, leadership organizations, and athletic programs that help them discover their interests, develop new skills, and become active members of the school community.
